One more class DONE!!!!!!

A few to go!!!!

1. Understanding: The end of the semester is so hard for me because I am so ready to be done and have a good long break! So when it comes to my abilities on things I feel like they go down from the beggining of the year because I am so ready to just get it all done. I do really like my family story which was done closer to the end of the semester, because I love writing anything that has to do with Thailand, but I do feel like my abilities in a lot of things have greatly improved with the many classes I have taken.
2. Practice: Being that one of my practicum students did not show up until 2 thursdays til the stories were done my differentiated instruction really had to come into play to get his story done as well as still help my other student who was almost done with her story. This skill is something that I really feel like I really got a lot of practice in doing because of the practicum. There really has not been much taught other then actaul learning on your own, but what I have learned on my own I feel will help me tremendously in the years to come.
3. Understanding: This goes a lot with what I typed about in the section before! There was not much taught within the class, alot of what I learned was from personal experiece working with my practicum students. I feel like I do now know how to work with students who are on different levels and allow both of them to succceed to the best that they know how to! I do not think I would have learned as much if it would not have been for one of my students who did not come until two thursdays til the stories were due, but I am glad because I got an experience that I never would have gotten before.
4.Understanding: We were doing something very simular in Coilas class with two different students with different learning ablilites and I feel that this experience in Colias class helped me with my two students in our practicum in this class. This is something that as a teacher you must learn to do very well and the more that you do it the better that you will become at doing it!
5.Practice:Personally to answer the question that is asked in the handout-"Have I explored my own personal biases and prejudices, aware of cultural sterotypes and cultural and linguistics sensitivities?" I did not really see anything that had to do with cultuarally or linguistically diverse students! I did more and learned more on differentiated instruction which I feel is very important. I feel as if one of my studetns was very smart and the other one smart but not as motivated! I feel like I learned very little or saw very little of the question asked.

As I have said in my sections ealier what I learned the most this semester is how to differentiate instruction. I feel like I was able to use this skill like I have not been able to do before and become better in that area. Other then this a lot of what I learned was in our reading, which I have a hard time comprehending when I read.

A few suggestions that I would have would be , of course for my learning style be more structured. Also, start the practicum work as early as possible so it is not a rush at the end to get it done. More teaching of Diverse students would be nice as well because I feel like not much was taught within this semester of class.

I have completed everything that is due, this being the last thing that needed to be completed. I have not missed a class, and only one practicum class because I had to go to the doctor, but got Lacey to cover for me. So I feel that I do deserve and A! :)
